Nevada police seeking information in attempted assault
The Nevada, Mo. Police Department reports that they received a report of an assault that occurred near the intersection of Austin Boulevard and Clay St. in Nevada at about 11 a.m. on April 26, 2012. A 17-year-old female Nevada resident was approached by a passing car with one man in it who offered the girl a ride, which she refused.

R-5 board hires new tech center director
The Nevada R-5 Board of Education voted 5-0 during a special board meeting Wednesday morning, with Steve Cubbage and Monte Smith abstaining, to appoint Dr. Phillip Witt as the new director at the Nevada Regional Technical Center.
