A Zionsville resident retired from his position with the United States Navy after 22 years of service. Charles Ridings, former commanding officer at the Navy Operational Support Center in Indianapolis, spent 17 years as a helicopter pilot before taking the position in 2009. Ridings first enlisted in the Navy because he wanted to fly.
